Budget revenues from Customs for the month of August 2024 were 21.4 billion ALL (about 214 million euros) or 1.7 billion ALL (about 17 million euros) more than August 2023.

According to official sources from Customs, the increase in customs clearance comes as a result of good management and increased consumption, supported by the growth of the tourism industry, which recorded record numbers during this period.

A positive result has been given by the import of excise goods with 714 million ALL more than August 2023, where it is highlighted that of fuel which this month has reached the figure of 76,000 tons, a record monthly consumption figure.

Compared to August of 2023, about 7,000 tons more fuel, 20 tons more cigarettes, 1,000 tons more beer and 150 tons more coffee were consumed.

Meanwhile, the biggest effect on customs revenues was the import VAT with about 1 billion lek (about 10 million euros) more, with the main impact from the import of cigarettes with +138 million lek, as well as basic metals and metal constructions with effect about 150 million ALL more than August 2023./ Monitor.al
