Intense rainfall returns/ IGJEUM: Risk of flooding, mudslides and landslides

Intense rainfall appears to be returning for the remainder of the week.

According to a forecast from IGJEUM, the weather situation may pose a risk of flooding in some areas of the country.

It is predicted that in the regions of: Dibër, Elbasan, Korçë, Vlorë and Gjirokastër, there may be flash floods of small mountain rivers, as well as landslides.

Precipitation:

This afternoon (Wednesday, November 26) and tomorrow (Thursday, November 27) intense rainfall is expected in the Vlora and Gjirokastër regions, moderate to locally intense in the Dibër, Elbasan and Korçë regions, while moderate rainfall is expected in the other regions. Rainfall in all regions is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms (as shown in the table, respectively for each region).

In the north and east, at altitudes above 800 m above sea level, precipitation will be in the form of snow.

Tomorrow, minimum and maximum air temperatures are expected to reach:

On the coast: 12 / 15 °c

In lowlands: 8 / 15 °c

In mountainous areas: 3 / 9 °c

Wind:

This afternoon and tomorrow, the wind is expected to blow moderately to strongly, mainly on the coast and in mountainous areas. /CNA
