Heavy rainfall/ How is the situation in the Shkodra region?

The Prefect of Shkodra County has provided an update on the situation caused by the rainfall in the last 24 hours. The following announcement states that the water levels in the Buna River, the Drin River, the Kir River and the Gjadra River are below flood risk levels.

In the territory of the municipality of Vau i Dejës, a house with water was reported, where the residents were given immediate assistance by the Civil Emergency group. Meanwhile, in the territory of the municipality of Malësi e Madhe, water was found in the areas of Rrazë and Veshtë, but without danger to the houses.

It is reported that work is underway to supply electricity to the Kelmendi area. Work is also underway to open the road near the river in the Dragovoja area.

Landslides and rockfalls have been recorded on several rural roads in the territory of the Fushë-Arrëz Municipality. It is reported that the Civil Emergency Group is conducting field inspections and is closely monitoring any emergency situation.

The Institution of the Prefect of Shkodra District informs about the current situation in the territory of Shkodra District, as a result of heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours.

From the information administered by DRUK Lezhë, it results that there has been an increase in flows from streams and rivers. However, up to now, no problems have been found in the drainage channels, embankments and the dam of the Shtodër Reservoir. Currently, the water levels in the Buna River, the Drin River, the Kir River and the Gjadër River are below the flood risk quotas. The Velipoja, Viluni and Cas dams are in operation with 5 pumps each and are ready to operate at full capacity, if necessary. The responsible structures continue to monitor the situation on the ground and are ready to intervene at any time.

In the territory of the Municipality of Vau i Dejës, high intensity rainfall has been recorded. In the village of Hoten, a house with water was reported, where the residents were provided immediate assistance by the Civil Emergency group. The situation is being continuously monitored by the relevant structures.

In the territory of the Municipality of Malësi e Madhe, rainfall of moderate intensity continued throughout the night and in the following hours. The village of Flakë continues to be blocked as a result of the stream's flow. In the areas of Rrazë and Veshtë, the presence of water was found but without danger to homes. Work is being done to supply electricity in the Kelmendi area. Work is also being done to open the road near the river in the area of ??Dragovoja.

In the Drini Cascade, current natural flows reach 3500 m³/s, reflecting a stable hydrological situation. The lake levels are presented as follows:

Fierza: 281.2 m

Koman: 174.2 m

Vau i Dejës: 75 m

Current discharges from the hydropower plants are controlled and stable: Vau i Dejës HPP 700 m³/s and Koman HPP 700 m³/s. So far, no problems have been reported.
