Rama gives an additional 1 billion lek for the salaries of magistrates

The Council of Ministers at the meeting held this Wednesday, December 20, 2023, has decided to provide an additional fund in the approved budget for 2023 for the payment of a part of the difference in the magistrate's salary.

The fund of 1,000,000,000 (one billion) ALL is covered by the contingency fund, approved in the 2023 budget.

This decision enters into force immediately and is published in the "Official Gazette".

Below you can find the decision taken by the Council of Ministers today:

"AN ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO THE APPROVED 2023 BUDGET FOR CERTAIN INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS CREATED BY LAW

In support of Article 100 of the Constitution and the third paragraph, letter "a", of Article 14, of Law No. 84/2022, "On the budget of 2023", amended, with the proposal of the Minister of Finance and Economy , Council of ministers

DECIDE:

1. The allocation of an additional fund, in the item of current expenses, in the amount of 1 000 000 000 (one billion) ALL, in the approved budget for 2023, for the payment of a part of the difference in the magistrate's salary, according to the reasoning of the decision no. 35, dated 22.11.2022, of the Constitutional Court. This difference is given to the institutions of transitional reassessment of the magistrate, from the moment of their creation, and to other institutions of the justice system, from January 1, 2019 onwards.

2. The fund, according to point 1, is divided as follows:

a) The fund of 400,000,000 (four hundred million) ALL is added for the institution of the General Prosecutor's Office.

b) A fund of 10,000,000 (ten million) ALL is added to the institution of the High Council of Prosecution.

c) For the institution of the High Judicial Council, the fund of 350,000,000 (three hundred and fifty million) ALL is added.

ç) For the institution of the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime, the fund of 60,000,000 (sixty million) ALL is added.

d) For the institution of the High Inspector of Justice, the fund of 2,000,000 (two million) ALL is added.

dh) For the institution of the Independent Qualification Commission, the fund of 60,000,000 (sixty million) ALL is added.

e) A fund of 25,000,000 (twenty-five million) ALL is added for the institution of the Special Appeal Board.

ë) A fund of 22,000,000 (twenty-two million) ALL is added for the institution of Public Commissioners.

f) For the institution of the Central Election Commission, the fund of 13,000,000 (thirteen million) ALL is added.

g) The fund of 4,000,000 (four million) ALL is added for the institution of the People's Advocate.

gj) The fund of 54 000 000 (fifty four million) ALL is added for the institution of the School of Magistrates.

3. The fund of 1,000,000,000 (one billion) ALL is covered by the contingency fund, approved in the 2023 budget.

4. The Ministry of Finance and Economy and the institutions mentioned in point 2 are charged with the implementation of this decision. The repayment of the payment is made by the institutions of the justice system, within 15.1.2024.

     This decision enters into force immediately and is published in the "Official Gazette"./ CNA
