Altin Duman's message: I am immune from political rhetoric and media

The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, has given a clear message about politics this Wednesday.

Dumani has said that he is not bothered by political rhetoric, as he claims that SPAK is immune to it.

He emphasized that SPAK has a constitutional guarantee to prosecute.

"SPAK has tried to build good relations with civil society and we will continue to be cooperative. Most SPAK cases require a long term, there are postponements of hearings and delays in the investigation. Cases with 20 defendants create adjournments.

Especially issues of a corrupt nature and violation of equality in tenders, or even abuse of office, require a very long time, but also special techniques. There is no comparison of a SPAK case with a case of general jurisdiction prosecutors. As far as transparency is concerned, we have tried as much as the law allows us to be transparent with the public and we have published everything on the SPAK website. There are rare announcements when the public interest is too great and we have reacted.

Media pressure and political rhetoric have no effect whatsoever. I am immune to both. I try to convey this to the investigators. We are attentive when problems are highlighted by the media or politics in various discussions, of course we follow them. But in relation to the investigations, they do not affect us", stated the head of SPAK.

Duman made this statement during his speech at the "Center for the Study of Democracy and Government" activity.

Duman's statement comes at a time when the opposition has made numerous accusations against SPAK regarding the security measure for former prime minister Sali Berisha./ CNA
