"Rama will do the reform alone"/ Bylykbashi: He will have Basha's
Oerd Bylykbashi

The vice president of the Democratic Party, Oerd Bylykbashi, has commented on the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the Electoral Reform Commission.

During an interview for the media, Bylykbashi stated that Rama will do the reform alone and for this he will have the votes of Lulzim Basha.

"The bipartisan Electoral Reform Commission, with two co-chairs, with the veto of the majority and the opposition, the two main parties, has twice guaranteed democratic political rotation by vote, in 2005 and 2013.

Since the arrival of Edi Rama, there has not been a consensual electoral reform commission in the parliament. Even the political council, it too was then taken out of the game with the unilateral constitutional changes.

Rama is not saying anything new, but he is openly saying what he intends to do and what he has done in the past. He will do the reform alone.

He does not have the votes, there are only 75 votes of the SP, 3 votes of Tom Doshi's party, and the only way to do this is with the votes of Lulzim Basha.

Electoral reform is not a race to see who proposes a draft first. The proposals made by Basha are such that they pave the way not only for changes in the Electoral Code between these two, Rama and Basha, but eventually they can also change the Constitution to make Albania a Presidential Republic.

The proposal is Basha's, the interest is Rama's. Clearly, the draft is Rama's, the goal is his, to give him a power so that tomorrow Rama will be President with the same power as Vucic, but Basha made the proposal.

If Rama would accept the president from the people, acting as if he is doing it out of trouble, but this is his interest, then Basha is fully motivated to give votes to Rama, which he said in his speech at the end of December, who said, that I will try to find a numerical consensus, in contrast to what the internationals are looking for", said Oerd Bylykbashi./ CNA
