Tourist operators in Gjirokastër are getting ready to receive visitors, while the aim is to further increase the number of tourists.

For this reason, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a meeting in Ioannina with the Hotel-Tourism Association of the neighboring country, while a cooperation agreement was also reached for the southern region.

Maksi Hoxha, the head of the Chamber of Commerce in Gjirokastra, said that it is very important to promote the values ??of cultural heritage, as well as the many resources that the district of Gjirokastra has.

"We had been thinking of holding this meeting and this activity for a long time, the focus of which was the presentation of the tourist resources of the Gjirokastra District. Seeing the increase of foreign tourists in the county in recent years, the part of tourists from the prefecture of Ioannina that we are so close to have been in relatively low numbers and we wanted to achieve this through this meeting. In this meeting, in addition to the presentation, a cooperation agreement was also signed so that businesses are closer to each other, to start compiling joint tourist packages for both sides of the border. The participation in the meeting from the Greek side was satisfactory and the statistics show that the number of visitors from Albania to Ioannina is very high and we therefore requested that the number of visitors be returned to us from the Greek side as well, because the distance is very close". Maks Hoxha said.

The year we are leaving behind is considered quite successful by tourist operators and businesses, mainly accommodation ones, where the number of the latter has increased significantly. Tourists have arrived from all over the world, but the Italians and Spaniards made the difference this year as well.
