At the conference for the closing of the mandate of the KPK and the Public Commissioner, in charge of US affairs in our country, Nancy VanHorn, expressed support for the special prosecutors.

VanHorn stated that SPAK is fighting to bring to justice crime bosses and high-ranking officials involved in corruption.

She said that the influence of justice is being felt in Albania, while she asked to continue with this progress against corruption.

"Since 2018, the commissioners have worked diligently to look at the integrity of judges and prosecutors, you have set a standard that is held as an example not only in Europe but also in other countries. Difficult process, but promising for a fairer society for all citizens. There was resistance to justice reform and this continues today in some countries. Commissioners have made great sacrifices as professionals. Even personal, they have taken unpopular decisions. They have shown extraordinary courage to face the retaliation for these unpopular dismissal decisions.

The people of Albania should know that government officials are being held accountable and will continue thanks to the good work of brave Albanians like you. We celebrate this great milestone of vetting achievements today. The reassessment is not over, the demand of the Albanian people for justice is as strong as in 2016, this is thanks to your work. Prosecutors in SPAK are fighting to bring crime bosses and high-ranking corrupt figures to justice. I urge all of you who are here today to feel proud of these achievements.

More remains to be done, you have built new institutions of justice in the name of the Albanian people. Important to use them in the right measure, you must be efficient, independent and impartial. You have to keep working in the face of any obstacles, we have been with you since 2016 and we are starting to see the impact of justice. Continue this progress against corruption," said VanHorn./ CNA
