The government took away his license / "Klan Kosova" reacts: Unfair

The Government of Kosovo has suspended the license of "Klan Kosova" television.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Entrepreneurship announced a little while ago that it has submitted a criminal report to the Department of Serious Crimes for this television, with the suspicion of misuse of official duties and misuse of economic authorizations.

After this decision, there was a reaction from "Klan Kosova". The television declares that the cancellation of the license was announced at 18:00, while it claims that it has nothing to do with the suspicions raised by the ministry.

"Klan Kosova" states that this action is unfair, arbitrary, not based on the law, an attempt to violate the freedom of the media and freedom of expression.

The statement of "Klan Kosova" television:

Klan Kosova expresses its concern regarding the announcement of the afternoon hours of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade that the same has initiated a criminal complaint in the Department of Serious Crimes within the Police of the Republic of Kosovo, against KLAN KOSOVA SHPK, and that it is made a decision on what they called "suspension of the business certificate".

Klan Kosova was notified by the minister Rozeta Hajdari about this decision around 18:00, but until now no official decision has been received from the ministry.

Klan Kosova has never until today had any contact or action from any institution of the Republic of Kosovo regarding the issues about which the ministry has raised doubts.

Klan Kosova has never had the chance to give any explanations to the state institutions regarding the ministry's claims, which according to them stemmed from a speculative article from an online portal, just a day before.

Until we receive further notices, we believe that this action is completely unfair, arbitrary and with autocratic premises, not based on the law, which in any case amounts to an attempt to close a medium, an attempt to violate the freedom of the media and freedom of expression.

We have immediately taken measures to consult with lawyers, while notifying all state institutions, accredited embassies in Kosovo, international media and freedom of expression organizations./ CNA.al
