The Director of the Albanian Road Authority, Ami Kozeli, together with the Administrator of the Albanian Railway, have updated the situation on the progress of the works in the "Arrave të Gurrës" area, where intensive intervention has been continuing for days to stabilize the landslide and guarantee the safety of the road and railway infrastructure.

According to Kozel, the works are being carried out at a high pace and without interruption, 24 hours a day. The contractor has organized two 12-hour shifts, while a number of equipment and workers have been engaged in the field.

"There is a total mobilization of equipment. Evasion and removal of masses from the landslide body is being carried out continuously, to bring the escarpment towards natural equilibrium and at the same time to pave the way for drilling probes," said Kozeli.

The Geological Survey has identified four drilling points in the upper part of the affected area. One of them has been completed, the second is expected to be completed today, while the other two will be completed tomorrow. In parallel, excavators are preparing the ground for conducting surveys.

Meanwhile, the river protection has also been completed, specifically the diversion of the river body, in order to prevent it from hitting the part of the escarpment under the railway.

Representatives from the Polytechnic University of Tirana and the Institute of Engineering have also been engaged on site, providing technical assistance and ongoing advice. The designer has presented three proposals regarding the intervention trajectory, which have been discussed by the working group.

According to the leaders of the ARRSH, the final assessment of the volume of works is expected to be made on Monday and concrete deadlines for the implementation of the alternative route on the river body, next to the Albanian Railway, will be determined.

"The works are going quite well, they are working with uninterrupted 24-hour schedules. The contractor has divided two shifts of 12 hours each. There is a total mobilization of equipment. Evasion is constantly taking place, removing masses from the landslide body, this is to bring the slope towards its natural equilibrium, but in the meantime, in parallel, to make way for the drilling of probes.

The Geological Survey has identified four spots in this upper part. One was just completed a little while ago, the second will be carried out today, while the excavator is clearing the way for its drilling, while the other two will be done the next day. The river protection, i.e. the diversion of the river body so that it does not hit the part of the slope under the Albanian railway, has been completed.

There is a total mobilization on the part of the contractors, the authority, and the Albanian Railway, the Geological Service. Meanwhile, a little while ago there were also two members of the Polytechnic University of Tirana and the Institute of Engineering, because we are constantly consulting with them. The designer was on the ground with us, with whom we consulted regarding the proposals that he has brought, because yesterday he brought three proposals.

We met this morning before leaving for the inspection, where we had our discussions. We believe that on Monday we are in a position, because we need to evaluate it, so he has brought his proposals regarding the trajectory, while we need to evaluate the volumes of work on our part, because these are what determine the deadlines, which of course the entire public opinion is eager to know. So we as an authority think that on Monday we are in a position to determine the deadlines for the work regarding the alternative route on the river body next to the Albanian Railway", said Kozeli./ CNA
