Protest for Klan Kosovan/ Former head of AMA: Who is complaining about the lack
Former AMA head Gentian Sala

This Monday, Kosovo journalists protested in support of "Klan Kosova" television in Pristina, after the decision of the Ministry of Industry to suspend the license of the television.

After this protest came a reaction from the former head of the AMA, Gentian Sala.

Through a status on social networks, he declares that journalists complain about Klan Kosova, but no one talks about the constitutional right to basic information free of charge of the citizens of Kosovo.

Sala states that unlike Albania, which has 13 free-to-air state channels and has a number of broadcasting platforms, Kosovo offers only one free-to-air channel.

" The journalists in Kosovo are doing very well to find time and complain why a National TV calls Gjakova and Peja, part of Serbia... but for the constitutional right to basic and free information of the citizens of Kosovo, who should complain? I'm just making a comparison with Albania... which is not the ideal case of the right to information anyway. Free channels in Albania are 35-40, depending on the area. In Kosovo, only 3 channels, in analog format (poor quality and out of use throughout Europe). In Albania, signal coverage of over 95% of the population and over 90% of the territory. In Kosovo, less than 50% of the population, less than 30% of the territory.

In Albania, 3 types of broadcast platforms prevail, digital, cable, OTT and with some national actors, Klan, Top Channel, Vizion+, Digitalb, Tring, Abcom (Vodafone), Digicom, Telecom. In Kosovo, only cable technology, with actors Telekom, Art Motion, IPKO, Tekom Serbia (the latter is not even Rtk on the platform...legal obligation). So the bottom line is... can a family in need watch channels WITHOUT PAYMENT on KS. In Albania, this constitutional right is enjoyed by about 30% of the population (the government alone distributed 80,000 digital devices to the needy) and thousands of businesses (hotels, restaurants, bars, etc.). The public operator in Albania, RTSH offers 13 channels free of charge, RTK offers 1 channel free of charge ", emphasizes the former head of AMA./ CNA.al
