The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, spoke at the European Policy Center regarding international support for SPAK. Dumani said that the EU and the US have supported the Special Prosecution Office through projects, programs, but also from a technical point of view.

He emphasized that the most important support was the public statements made by EU representatives in defense of SPAK, protecting it from political and media pressures. The Chief Prosecutor concluded his speech with a message to the EU, saying that they should continue their support for SPAK and its counterpart institutions in the region.

"Of course, institutions require good legal and constitutional protection in order to continue. Currently, SPAK has this guaranteed, as the Constitution and legal framework guarantee this independence. But we have needed the support of the EU and the US in our work. The support has been through projects and programs. It has also been from a technical point of view, helping us with tools and equipment. But the most important help has been the protection of the institution, the public statements made by EU representatives, whether here in Brussels or in Albania. The European Union has been a very strong voice in protecting SPAK from political or media pressures. This is the message I want to convey, to continue supporting SPAK and other homologous institutions in the region. I am sure that if we did not have the support of the EU and the US in the forms I mentioned, SPAK would not be at this stage it is today," said Dumani. /CNA
