Commissioner Kos: SPAK, one of Albania's extraordinary successes

EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, spoke in an interview regarding Albania's integration process into the European Union.

Kos said that Albania has had achievements and successes in the past two years, including the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime. She further added that the technical part of the negotiations could be completed by the end of 2027.

“Albania has really achieved extraordinary success in the last two years and if I wanted to single out what was very successful, it is the reform of the judicial system, the building of independent anti-corruption institutions like SPAK, and what I like to see in Albania is that this pro-European spirit is really very high and this is a good thing. It is not just about what the government is doing, it is not just about what the parliament is doing, and this is what I feel and see every time I come to Albania. So, yes, we have opened all the group chapters, but this means that now we have to close all the chapters. To come back to your question about the deadline, your government has set a very ambitious target to complete the technical part of the negotiations by the end of 2027.
