Serious incident prevented/ 59-year-old woman who attempted to drown in the Buna

A serious incident was prevented in Shkodra, where a 59-year-old woman was saved from drowning in the Buna River. According to police information, she had jumped into the waters of the Buna River to commit suicide.

The 59-year-old woman was pulled from the water in serious condition but with signs of life, and was taken to Shkodra Hospital to receive medical attention.

"Police officers, risking their lives, dived into the Buna River and rescued a 59-year-old woman who had jumped into the waters of the Buna River to commit suicide."

At around 09:30, the Operations Room received a report that a citizen had thrown herself into the waters of the Buna River. Immediately, the services of the General Patrol of the Shkodra Police Commissariat went to the scene and entered the water, making it possible to extract the 59-year-old from the waters of the Buna River, in serious condition, but with signs of life, and provided her with first aid.

"Citizen VT, 59 years old, was transported by ambulance to the Shkodra Regional Hospital to receive the necessary medical assistance," the police statement said. /CNA
