The investigation into the corruption of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj by the Special Prosecution Office will continue until September 24, when SPAK will decide whether to take the case to trial.

From December 6, 2024 to July 17 of this year, the Special Prosecution Office has administered 97 statements from persons who have knowledge of the criminal offenses that the prosecution has attributed to Erjon Veliaj, his wife Ajola Xoxa, as well as other persons involved in these investigations.

Among the people who gave depositions to SPAK was the mayor of Fier, Armando Subashi, after a tender awarded by this municipality for one of Ajola Xoxa's OFJs was discovered.

The Special Prosecution Office has also received the testimony of strategic investor Gazmend Paja, the latter a close associate of Veliaj.

On February 14 of this year, the People's Advocate Erinda Ballanca was also heard as a person with knowledge of the investigations in the "Veliaj" file.

Ilriana Basha, the wife of former National Theater director Altin Basha, has also testified at the Special Prosecution Office.

According to the file, Altin Basha and his wife have benefited from 9 projects, approximately 320 thousand euros from the Tirana municipality.

But not only mayors, former Democratic MP Myslym Murrizi has also appeared in the Special Prosecution Office regarding the Veliaj file.

At that time, when questioned by the media, he stated that it had nothing to do with him as a person, but with investigations into other people where his name may have been mentioned.

The Special Prosecution Office has also questioned the former director of the National Opera and Ballet Theater, Abigelia Voshtina.

According to the data, a "Lease Contract" contract has been discovered with the following parties: the National Opera and Ballet Theater of the People's Ensemble, legally represented by the General Director Ms. Abigeila Voshtina, and "RAMETAL", a company owned by Elman Abule.

According to the contract, TKOBAP undertakes to pay “Rametal” sh.pk, the total amount of 1,213,380 lek excluding VAT.
