Citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia will enjoy privileged access to the German labor market from June 1, 2024, according to the Regulation for the Western Balkans.

This is after Germany has decided to double the number of visas that will be granted to citizens of these six countries for work purposes per year to 50,000, SchengenVisaInfo reports.

The regulation for Western Balkan countries was limited until the end of 2023. However, after the development of the new Skilled Immigration Act, Germany has decided to change the rules for these nationalities.

As the German embassy has clarified, the new rules will be distributed at the appropriate time and until then all appointments will continue to be distributed through the lottery system.

The next registration for the appointment list opens on May 7

The German embassies in these six Western Balkan countries have set up a monthly lottery system that randomly selects individuals who will be allowed to make an appointment to submit their visa applications.

The next registration for a work visa appointment in Germany under the Western Balkans Regulation will open this Wednesday, May 7, 2024 and close one week later, on May 14, 2024.

During this seven-day period, everyone from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia can register and there is no need to go through the registration process through intermediaries or other agencies as it is simple.

Applicants should note that they are only allowed to register once. Furthermore, they cannot make subsequent changes to the data and are also not allowed to transfer their appointment to another person.

Those selected through the lottery system are notified by the German authorities and will then be able to undergo the visa application process./ CNA
