Tomorrow the citizens turn to the ballot boxes/ Today Albania in election

This Friday, the electoral campaign for the local elections of 61 municipalities of the country has ended.

While the citizens turn to the ballot boxes tomorrow, today the country is in election silence.

This is because according to the Electoral Code, 24 hours before the date of the elections, the campaign of political parties ends, giving way to electoral silence.

Politicians are legally prohibited from making political appeals to voters and giving political messages.

"The day before the date of the elections and the date of the elections, until the closing time of the voting, form the period of election silence. During the period of election silence, no type of election campaign is allowed through the media, as well as the development of rallies or other election activities of electoral subjects", states Article 77 of the Electoral Code.

In these local elections, 3,650,550 Albanian citizens have the right to vote, while 122,545 voters vote for the first time.

In 61 municipalities of the country, 5,211 voting centers will be open from 07:00 to 20:00./ CNA.al
