The Minister of Health, Albana Koçiu, together with the Director of the IHP, Eugena Tomini, and the Head of Epidemiology at the IHP, Silva Bino, have spoken about the meningitis situation in the country, starting from the case presented at the Durrës Hospital. Silva Bino stated that prophylaxis has been carried out on the close family members of the infected person, as well as in high schools, which amounts to one in 35,000 cases where meningitis may appear.

"We have carried out antibiotic prophylaxis for 99 people, for close family members to prevent further spread from any family carrier. We have also carried out medium contacts, which are classes, teachers, health workers, and prophylaxis has been carried out for all of them. The possibility of being infected in classes in primary school contacts is 1 in 13 thousand cases. So we have gone very far, up to high schools, which goes from 1 person in 35,000 cases that can appear. So to have maximum security, we have expanded contact prophylaxis on a very large scale. So there is no need to panic ," Bino emphasized.
