Scandal, State Police put the lives of judges and prosecutors at risk

The State Police is involved in the scandal. SPAK and GJKKO, through a letter sent to Ervin Hoxha and Ilir Proda, reveal that the State Police, with unprecedented and unacceptable behavior, has put the lives of prosecutors and judges at risk during the administration's protest with orders in front of SPAK. The letter also states that Proda's subordinates have refused to cooperate with the Republic Guard, which has requested measures to maintain the security perimeter.

"In addition to the above, the aforementioned institutions have been informed of another important fact regarding the situation on 12.02.2025, which was the difficulty of judges' movement during the court session, which worsened during the evening, where protesters not only prevented judges from leaving the court premises, but also when they attempted to leave, their accompanying vehicles were shot at by protesters, cursing and insulting judges and prosecutors. This situation has led to the fact that even after the end of the court session and the announcement of the decision, the protesters have isolated all judges and administrative staff through the siege, whose safety for their lives and health was clearly violated. Despite the above facts, and in contradiction with the legal provisions provided for in the law "On the State Police", the State Police, whose primary mission is to maintain public order and security, guarantee the implementation of the law, in accordance with the Constitution and international acts, while respecting human rights and freedoms, has not reacted to cooperate with the Guard of the Republic of Albania, showing an inexplicable indifference in the pursuit and prevention of this situation which could seriously endanger the lives and health of judges and administrative personnel. This institutional apathy undoubtedly constitutes a serious violation of the independence of the judiciary", the letter states./ CNA
