Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka is holding a press conference with her Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares Bueno.

Xhaçka has stated that the visit precedes Spain taking over the Presidency of the EU in the second half of the year.

The minister emphasized that enlargement is not just an instrument of the EU, but is the very essence of the Union.

By the end of 2023, Albania plans to complete the "screening" process for all negotiation group-chapters.

Among other things, Xhaçka has announced that it has been agreed between the two parties to sign a "Memorandum of Cooperation".

According to the minister, the goal is to achieve the best possible coordination of work on European integration issues.

In this memorandum, it is foreseen that Spain will support Albania by providing consulting services and technical assistance.

" We share the same opinion, that enlargement is not just an instrument of the EU, but is the very essence of the Union.

I informed the Albares counterpart about Albania's progress in the integration process.

I asked for Spain's support in facilitating the discussions in the Council, for a positive decision on the opening of the group of fundamental chapters.
