The Special Court has left in force the security measures for the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj and 4 of his associates, for the abuse of EU funds.

Beqaj was left in "prison custody", despite the fact that he asked to be released with a property guarantee of 50 million old leks.

The security measure has changed for Alfred Nikolla, from "prison arrest" to "house arrest".

We remind you that on Thursday, the Special Court, at the request of the SPAK, issued 7 security measures, 3 "prison arrests", 2 "house arrests" and 2 "compulsion to appear", as well as checks in apartments or facilities, after investigations for abuses of EU funds. 

The former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, is one of the arrested persons. Along with him, Ermal Kurtulaj and Alfred Nikolla fell into the hands of the police. The latter will now be under "house arrest".

Gazmend Haxhia and Elton Marini were also placed under house arrest, while the homes of two other people, Bledar Leka and Bjona Zijaj, were searched. 

The arrest warrants were signed by prosecutor Elida Kaçkini, while the decision to execute them was taken by judge Rudina Palloi./ CNA
