Policia ka marrë në mbrojtje ish-prokuroren e Lushnjes, Merita Selimi pasi dyshohet se ka qenë në shënjestër për t’u vrarë nga grupi i Laert Haxhiut.

Mësohet se Merita Selimi do të shoqërohet nga efektivë të Policisë së Shtetit kudo që të jetë në lëvizje.

Emri ish-zyrares doli gjatë dëshmive të bashkëpunëtorit të drejtësisë Artan Tafani, i cili tregoi 6 vrasje të kryera nga grupi i Laert Haxhiut. 

Sipas dëshmisë së tij para hetuesve, Laert Haxhiu kërkonte të vriste Merita Selimin pasi kishte hetuar atë dhe bashkëpunëtorë të tij për një vrasje.

Komisioni i Pavarur i Kualifikimit, shkarkoi nga detyra në korrik të këtij viti Merita Selimin, pas problemeve të konstatuara me burimet financiare të një apartamenti në Tiranë dhe me likujditetet.

Vendimi u shpall nga trupa e kryesuar nga Brunilda Bekteshi, me relator Lulzim Hamitajn dhe anëtare Etleda Çiftjen. Në cilësinë e vëzhguesit ndërkombëtar ishte i pranishëm Francesco Ciardi.
