National Prayer Congress/Balla: Albania needs leadership that unites

The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, delivered his speech at the 2026 National Prayer Congress, held in Tirana on the topic "Leadership in difficult times".

In his speech, Balla emphasized that Albania is at a very important historical and political moment, at a time when the country is advancing rapidly in the European integration process and is simultaneously facing global challenges, geopolitical tensions and high social polarization.

He stated that it is precisely in these moments that true leadership is tested. Balla emphasized that Albania needs leaders who unite and not divide, who create trust and not insecurity.

"The European integration process is a great test of leadership for Albania. It is easy to talk about Europe; it is more difficult to build European standards every day in institutions, in political culture and in the way we dialogue with each other," he said.

Balla emphasized that in important periods for the country, politics must show more responsibility, prudence, and a culture of cooperation, as national challenges cannot be faced through the language of conflict and continuous division.

The 2026 National Prayer Congress brought together religious representatives, political figures, diplomats and civil society representatives in Tirana, in an event focused on ethics in leadership, public responsibility and the role of faith in times of challenge. /CNA
