Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to opposition claims that Albania's EU integration process has been blocked.

During the Europe Day event, Rama responded to the comments by ironically saying: "Whoever believes that air can be bought, let him sell it."

"Today in Brussels, Albania is not negotiating, but the Commission. The EC considers Albania's tasks for this phase and for the intermediate milestones fulfilled. And it is discussing with the member states. Saying that it was blocked by X or Y is selling air. Whoever believes that air is bought, should sell it! This is a process that requires study. Guarantees, it's like saying when you go to a war and they say what guarantees do you have that you will win the battle. But everything is won by trying, there are no written guarantees. For us, what the EC says is important. It looks at the process objectively, not politically. When the EC says Albania has fulfilled them, we wait. We continue working in all directions," he said.
