Appeal of the GJKKO releases the former chief prosecutor of Vlora from prison

The appeal of the GJKKO has released the former chief prosecutor of Vlora, Aurel, from prison. The former chief prosecutor of Vlora had been held in custody since June 2024, after being sentenced by the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime to 4 years in prison on charges of "corruption" and "illegal influence" in the file known as "Toyota Yaris". Due to the shortened trial, his sentence was reduced to 2 years and 8 months in prison.

The appeal of the GJKKO announced that it decided to determine the termination of the security measure "Arrest in prison" against Aurel Zarka, ordering his immediate release from the detention facilities at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, if he is not held for another legal reason.

According to the decision, this decision can be appealed within 45 days from its reasoned notification./ CNA
