Electoral Reform/ Gonzato: Albania should fulfill OSCE recommendations

The EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, has requested, within the framework of Electoral Reform, that Albania fulfill the OSCE recommendations.

Gonzato said that Albania must have a local administration to benefit from its EU membership.

Ambassador Gonzato stated that all EU programs are related to local and regional governance, and as for the 2027 objective, according to him, it is important to have a clear objective that keeps the parties focused.

"Electoral reform, one of the requirements that we have specified is that Albania must meet the ongoing recommendations from the OSCE. It is part of democratic standards. Democratic pluralism is important. And territorial-administrative reform, Albania must have a local administration that benefits from its membership in the EU. All the programs that the EU has are related to local and regional governance. As for the 2027 objective, I have always said that it is important to have a clear objective that keeps the parties focused. And this has shown its value that there has been a full commitment of the EC and the member states to follow this process", said Gonzato./ CNA
