Member of Parliament, Erisa Xixho

The MP, Erisa Xhixho, reacted after the publication of the Brussels report on Albania.

Xixho says that the EC's progress report points to the most serious wounds that the "Rama" government has caused to democracy.

According to her, the detailed scan that was made of Albania highlights the major problems of the governing majority.

She also talks about the opposition's demands for the establishment of investigative commissions, the need for electoral reform and the fight against corruption.

Xixho writes on social networks that the progress report is the mirror where the government should see itself.

Full post:

The progress report of the EC points to the most serious wounds caused to democracy by the "Rama" government. The detailed scan that has been made of Albania highlights the major problems of the governing majority and gives voice to the concerns that have been systematically raised by the opposition.

Legitimate demands of the opposition for the establishment of investigative commissions

The majority's refusal to establish investigative commissions is completely unconstitutional. Parliament and the opposition, as part of it and representative of the will of the citizens, have the right to control the work of the government through investigative commissions, guaranteed by the Constitution and the law. Any obstacle and rejection by the majority is a blow to democracy and an open violation of the rule of law. As evidenced in the report, there was no parliamentary control over the government because it is a fact that this majority did not allow it due to the illegality of the card.

Elections and the need for electoral reform

The progress report highlights misuse of resources and state administration, pressure on voters and vote buying as the main problems that continue to violate the standards of elections in Albania. Electoral reform is a must.

War against corruption

Corruption and organized crime remain at alarming levels. In both areas, Albania ranks below the average, because corruption and alliance with crime are the government's necessary tools to take power whenever there are elections and to keep it, while Albanians are economically ruined or leave the country.

The progress report is the mirror where the government should see itself. Bought elections, violation of the law and the opposition's right to do its job, rampant corruption and alliance with crime are not the path that leads us to the EU./ CNA
