The interpellation requested by the opposition with the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, regarding police appointments is taking place in the Assembly.

DP MP Klevis Balliu stated during his speech that State Police officials are exposed to corruption. Among other things, he described the incrimination of the police as a fact.

On the other hand, Minister Besfort Lamallari stated that there are problems, violations and abuses within the ranks of the State Police, while stating that it is still in the process of transformation.

Regarding the Police Supervision Agency, the minister said that there are 336 criminal referrals for violations within police structures and other agencies.

"We must be careful with statements and accusations against the police uniform. It does not mean that there are no problems, there are problems. There are violations and abuses, there are those who have betrayed the uniform. The EC has clearly evidenced that the State Police has entered a phase of deep transformation. The Commission in 2025 quotes; Albania has made sustainable progress in the fight against corruption. At the end of the day, sharing information in real time, with other law enforcement agencies, is very important for us. The global organized crime index presents Albania with resistance and fighting capacities. Capacities are increasing and there is resistance to illegality, in the face of organized crime. My first order as head of the agency was to verify all police forces, especially the leadership. There are 336 criminal referrals for violations within police structures and other agencies. This shows that the agency is functioning. We have 444 employees of the referred structures", said Lamallari.

At the end of his speech, Minister Lamallari spoke about the appointment of Skënder Hita as head of the General Police. He said that Hita is a person who knows the police well and that he is the right person for that task. /CNA
