The investigations of the Italian state for Toni Marinaj/ Prosecution for CNA:

A few days ago, CNA published the details of the entire investigation file of the Florence Prosecutor's Office in 2016 for the investigations against the mayor of Malësë e Madhe, Tonin Marinaj. ( READ HERE )

With documents and facts from this hundred-page file, CNA showed that Tonin Marinaj is accused by the Florence Prosecutor's Office of being the head of a criminal organization of international drug trafficking. ( READ HERE )

Prosecutor Giulio Monferini accuses the mayor of Malësia e Madhe, Toni Marinaj, of having founded, instigated and directed an organization of international proportions, based mainly in Tuscany, Venice, Udine and Albania, for the trafficking of marijuana.

Tonin Marinaj did not declare the investigations in the Italian state in the self-declaration form.

Marinaj cheated on the two self-declaration forms, for the local elections of 2019 and 2023, where he said that he was never under investigation by any foreign authority. ( READ HERE )

CNA WRITES TO INSTITUTIONS ABOUT OUR MARINES

On August 20, CNA addressed the Central Election Commission to obtain information on whether or not this institution has started the verification procedures for the socialist mayor, Tonin Marinaj.

On September 2, the Central Election Commission, in its official response to CNA, clarified that on July 11, this institution decided to carry out an in-depth verification of Toni Marinaj and send the relevant data to the General Prosecutor's Office for further evaluation.

"Regarding the information requested for Mr. Tonin Marinaj, we inform you that we have sent the information we have through the postal service on 02.09.2024. We inform you that the letter has the following content: In response to your letter protocol no. 2487, dated 20.08.2024, with the subject "Request for the verification procedure of Mr. Tonin Marinaj", we inform you that: State Election Commissioner with decision no , dated 11.7.2024, has decided to carry out an in-depth verification of the self-declaring entity Mr. Tonin Zef Marinaj, mayor of Malësi e Madhe Municipality, proposed by the electoral entity "Socialist Party of Albania" and to send the relevant data to the General Prosecutor's Office , for further assessment. The General Prosecutor's Office has not yet sent the decision on the approval of the verification results in relation to this subject", says the CEC's response.

On 05.09.2024, City News Albania addressed a letter to the General Prosecutor's Office regarding the case of the mayor of Malësi e Madhe, Tonin Marinaj.

In the response of the Prosecution dated 12.09.2024, it is noted that:

"For this process, the results of the verification have not been completed, as verification information is still needed for the self-declared data from this subject in the form pursuant to law no. 138/2015 "On guaranteeing the integrity of persons who are elected, appointed or exercise public functions '”.

On July 2, the Democratic Party asked the General Prosecutor's Office to verify, according to the decriminalization law, the mayor of Malësë e Madhe, Tonin Marinaj.

According to the DP, the Prosecutor's Office of Florence accuses Marinaj of being the head of a criminal organization of international drug trafficking, and the head of the Municipality of Malësi e Madhe hid these investigations in the self-declaration form.

Regarding this request, there was also a reaction from Marinaj himself, who emphasized that everything is a shameful scenario and the accusations are fabricated and political. Thus, he denied the DP's accusations.

However, Marinaj has deceived the CEC twice in the self-declaration forms, for the 2019 and 2023 local elections.

The socialist mayor has stated that he has never been under investigation or trial by a foreign authority for any criminal offense, even though the file of the Florence Prosecutor's Office shows the opposite.

Until the publication of the investigation file, CNA has tried several times to communicate with the socialist mayor, Tonin Marinaj, regarding this issue, but he has not answered the calls./ CNA
