The Supreme Court rejects Fredi Beler's appeal

The Supreme Court has decided not to accept the appeal of Fredi Beleri, who asked for permission to be sworn in as the mayor of Himara.

Beleri appealed the decision of the GJKKO Appeal, which rejected his request to allow him to take the oath.

Fredi Beleri has been in jail since May 12, 2023, convicted of vote buying.

His requests to be released from his cell and sworn in as the mayor of Himara after winning the May 14 local elections have been rejected by the judiciary.

The Special Court has sentenced Beleri to two years in prison, on the charge of election corruption.

Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 elections on the suspicion that he gave money to various citizens in Himara, in exchange for votes./ CNA
