'Giro d'Italia' comes to Albania/ Here's how vehicle traffic

From May 9th to 11th, the most prestigious cycling race in Europe, called the 'Giro d'Italia', will start for the first time from our country.

The race will have three stages, Durrës, Tirana and Vlora. 180 professional cyclists will participate.

To guarantee organization at the highest level, a special plan of measures has been drafted for the smooth running of all planned activities.

How does vehicle traffic change:

Prohibition of vehicle circulation in the framework of the progress of the major activity "Giro d'Italia Grande Partenza 2025", during the first three tours held in the territory of the Republic of Albania, from 13:00 to 18:00, on 09.05.2025, on the entire itinerary of the first Stage, specifically on the roads:
- "SH3" Road (Gracen village to Teg roundabout)";
- "Teg" roundabout to "Sauk" roundabout, - "Elbasanit" Road, Blv. "Bajram Curri", "Ali Shefqeti" Street, "Alajdin Frashëri" Street; - "Rexhekrit" Street, "Sh54" Street — "Unaza Madhe", "Sotir Çaci" Street;
* "Xhanfize Keko" Street, "Arkitekt Kasemi" Street, Blv. "Zhan D'Ark" and Blv. "Dëshmorët e Kombit".
1.1. The route of the urban lines will be diverted as follows: – Line No. 2 “Teg — Sauk i Vjetër — Zoo — Former Train Station” will be diverted to “Willson” Square to “Sami Frashëri” Street. – Line No. 5/a “Former Autotractor Plant — Center”, is temporarily suspended.

– Line No. 8 “Center – New Sauk – Teg/ Old Sauk/ Sanatorium”, is temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 9 “Student City – Jordan Misja” (segment a; segment b), is temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 10 with branches: branch 10/a “New Marteniteti -Center”, branch 10/b “Mihal Grameno – Center” and branch: 10/c “Shkozë Roundabout – former Aviation Field” is temporarily suspended.
– Line no. 11 “Porcelan”, temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 13 “Tirana e Re” will divert to “Willson” Square on “Sami
Frashëri” Street.
– Line No. 16 “Green Line”, temporarily suspended
– Line No. 13 -Tirana – Baldushk – Tirant, temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 1 -Tirana – Petrelë – Tiranë”, temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 3 “Tirana – Farkë-Tiranë”, temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 9 “Tirana – Bërzhitë – Tiranë, temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 5 “Tirana – Dajt – Tiranë, temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 16/2 “Tujan”, temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 16/7 “Lanabregas”, temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 11 “Tirana – Krrabë – Tirana”, is temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 14/11 “Vrap”, is temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 15 “Tirana – Shëngjergj – Tirana, is temporarily suspended.
1.2 Prohibition of vehicle circulation, with the exception of vehicles in service of the event, from 08:00 to 18:00, on 09.05.2025, on “Dëshmorët e 4 Shkurtit” street, the segment of the road behind the “Palace of Culture” and inside the “former Guard of the Republic”.
1.3 Vehicle circulation will be carried out on the road segments as follows:
* On the “Great Ring” of the city, “Perlat Rexhepi” street, “Abdyl Frashëri” street, “Ismail Qemali” street and on “Ali Demi” street.
2. Prohibition of vehicle circulation, from 08:00 to 18:00, on 10.05.2025, on the entire itinerary of the second stage, specifically on the streets:
* On “Skënderbej Square, “Urani Pano” Street, “Ded Gjo Luli” Street, “Ibrahim Rugova” Street, “Dëshmorët e 4 Shkurtit” Street, “Gjergj Fishta” Blvd, “Muhamet Gjollesha” Street, “Bajram Curri” Blvd, “Ibrahim Rugova” Street, “Lek Dukagjini” Street, “Dervish Hima” Street and on “Elbasani” Street.
2.1. The route of the urban lines will be diverted as follows:
– Line No. 1/a “Selitë – Kristal – Qendër – former Train Station – Allias”, line no. 1/b, “Kodra e Diellit – Kristal – Qendër – former Train Station – Allias”, is temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 2 “Old Teg Sauk Zoo – Former Train Station”, is temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 3 “Kashar” (1 clockwise branch; 1 counterclockwise branch; 2 branch), is temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 4 “Center – QTU – Megatek – City Park” is diverted to “Karl Topia” square
– Line No. 5/a “former Autotractor Plant – Center”, is temporarily suspended. – Line No. 5/b “Institute – Center” is diverted to “Karl Topia” square.
* Line No. 6 “Laprakë” is diverted to “Karl Topia” square
* Line No. 8 “Center – Sauk i Ri – Teg/ Sauk i vjeter/ Sanatorium” is diverted to the Faculty of Economics.
* Line No. 9 “Student City – Jordan Misja” (segment a; segment b) is diverted to the Faculty of Economics.

– Line No. 10 with branches: branch 10/a “Marteniteti i Ri – Qender”, branch 10/b “Mihal Grameno – Qender” and branch: 10/c “Shkozë roundabout – former Airport”.
– Line No. 12 “Uzina Dinamo e Re – Sharre”, is temporarily suspended.
* Line No. 13 “Tirana e Re” (clockwise / counterclockwise), is temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 15 “Kombinat – Kinostudio / Tufine (branch 1 “Kombinat – Kinostudio” / branch 2 -Kombinat – Tufine”), is temporarily suspended.
– Line No. 16 “Linja e Gjelberg” (clockwise / counterclockwise), is temporarily suspended. 2.2. Vehicle circulation will be as follows:
-On the streets -Ibrahim Rugova" to "Perlat Rexhepi" street, "Abdyl Frasheri" street, "Ismail Qemali" street. "Papa Gjon Pali II" street, and "Dervish Hima" street.
3. Prohibition of vehicle circulation and release of parking from 06:00 on 9.05.2025, until 23:00 on 10.05.2025, on the streets within the former Guard of the Republic. -Abdyl Frasheri" street, "Urani Pano", the street behind the Palace of Culture in order to park the vehicles available for the event and the segment of Blv "Zogu I" from the intersection with "Dervish Hatixhe" street to the intersection with "Urani Pano" street.
4. The circulation of emergency vehicles and the State Police will continue normally on all the above road segments./CNA
