Race for new leader/ German Ambassador: Under Duman's leadership, SPAK has

The German Ambassador to Tirana, Karl Bergner, reacted today with a statement regarding the opening of the competition for the new head of SPAK.

Bergner stated that under Dumani's leadership, SPAK has made extraordinary contributions in the fight against crime and corruption. This, the German ambassador stated, is also emphasized by the trust of the Albanian people and international partners towards SPAK.

Focusing on the process for selecting the new head of SPAK, Ambassador Bergner stated that it should be a transparent process and free from external influences.

“ In recent years, under the leadership of Altin Dumani, SPAK has made extraordinary contributions to the fight against corruption and organized crime in Albania. The great trust of the Albanian population and Albania’s international partners in SPAK’s work impressively underlines this.

The process launched today by the High Prosecutorial Council to select the next head of SPAK must be transparent, based on merit and free from external influence.

"The independence of the judiciary, which must be demonstrated in the process launched today, but also in the daily actions of the executive and legislative bodies, is a key criterion for Germany regarding the rule of law and the level of Albania's preparation for EU membership ," said the German ambassador./ CNA
