Corruption in Lushnja Prison/ The Director and Deputy Director are Suspended

Following the arrest of a prison employee who was arrested for bribery, the General Directorate of Prisons announces that the director and deputy director of Lushnja Prison have been suspended.

"Following the incident that occurred yesterday evening, where the Head of Internal Regime at the Institution for the Execution of Penal Decisions (IEVP) Lushnja, Irekli Leka, was filmed accepting a sum of money in exchange for a rewarding leave for a convict, the General Directorate of Prisons has immediately taken administrative and disciplinary measures.

By Order of the Director General, the director and deputy director of the institution were suspended from duty, and the employee suspected of passive corruption was expelled from the ranks of the Prison Police.

After the publication of the footage on the investigative show "Stop", the General Directorate of Prisons, in close cooperation with the Internal Control Service and under the coordination of the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), made it possible to arrest the suspected employee within 30 minutes of the broadcast of the footage.
