People's Advocate Race/ Adriana Kalaja: I invite the majority to vote for

Adriana Kalaja spoke today about the competition to choose the new name that will hold the position of Ombudsman, of which she is also a part.

Through a post on social media, Kalaja lists several important elements related to the numerous debates of this race, while inviting the majority to vote for her because, according to her, in the future, the SP will be in opposition and will need a vote in favor.

“Dear Friends.

First, I want to express all my deep gratitude for the boundless and unconditional support you have given me these days, showing that the spirit of reacting to injustices, coming from every direction, has not "died".

Secondly, out of the thousands of statuses or text messages that I have read or that you have sent me, a good portion of which were sent to the leaders of the Democratic Party, you have profoundly influenced its strategy, clearing it of unnecessary and somewhat excessive accusations, and putting it on the right track.

Thirdly, in this entire public debate, you fought as if for yourself, because this injustice was perceived as against each of you.

Fourth, your reaction, beyond all imagination, confirmed that rights are not given, but earned, not by remaining silent but by "shouting" loudly.

Fifth, no matter how the vote goes today, I won the moral battle, because the People elected me as their Advocate through a "referendum", a referendum which I will propose as a separate law, if I am elected People's Advocate.

Sixth, I pledge that just as I have been Your Advocate without a "mandate", I will continue to be, even if elected by the Assembly, seeing injustice as a violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, regardless of who commits it.

Seventh, I will exercise my powers in every square meter of the country where I find injustice or violation of fundamental human rights or freedoms, regardless of where it comes from or against whom it is exercised.

Eighth, the same powers will be exercised in cooperation with international partner organizations, for every Albanian immigrant citizen, regardless of where they live or work.

Ninth, I will send to the Constitutional Court any law that conflicts with your interests or the fundamental human rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.

Tenth, I invite the majority to vote for me because power is not eternal, and that tomorrow in opposition, you would want a People's Advocate like me.

With deep humility, Your eternal Advocate, against all injustice, no matter where it comes from.
