What did the elections in Himare show?

It is already a well-known fact that this majority uses the entire state and every means to manipulate and alienate the elections, but can DP be endlessly justified for the losses that have occurred during the last decade?

No one is held accountable, but the best defense turns out to be stealing our votes! Can it go on like this?

The "Movement for National Development" has followed the elections of August 4, 2024 in the Municipality of Himara with great attention, for the very problems and interests that this municipality has.

Let's remember that in the local elections of 2003, DP and SP joined together against the PBDNJ candidate, because it was in full accordance with the composition of the voters in this municipality, where over 80% of the residents have a pure Albanian identity. This political move was evaluated as a very significant action.

Meanwhile, in the August 4 elections, two candidates were nominated, one of whom was of Greek nationality and the other of Greek self-identification, which does not match the real identity of the voters in this municipality. LZHK estimates that this was an attempt to win Greek sympathy or support.

Himara, in terms of natural assets (resources), will again remain a municipality with great interests, where property abuses will be on the agenda and will continue to be the subject of justice.

A year ago, PD won Himara without a seal, seal, finance or commissioner. On August 4, the DP, already with a sigil, seal, finances and commission won by a Court decision and more united within itself, supported by allies, lost, even deeply.

Can it go on like this? The best moment, when the DP and the opposition had the golden opportunity to stop the majority in "consecutive victories", was the date of July 26, 2024, when they defended the proposals of the united opposition for the electoral reform in the Assembly, coming from the table of the LZHK- on July 5, 2024. Unfortunately, the DP squandered this opportunity, and even joined the votes with the SP, severely hitting democracy.

LZHK has assessed the law approved by the Assembly of Albania as unconstitutional and contrary to the spirit, reasoning and conclusions reached by the decision of the Constitutional Court. This was the reason that LZHK publicly asked the President of the Republic not to decree it.

Despite the fact that the law does not guarantee free, fair and reliable elections, LZHK, starting from September and continuing, will start building the appropriate infrastructure to face political opponents in elections and to contribute as much as possible to faith in democracy./ CNA
