The opposition has complained about the result of the elections in Himare, where Vangjel Tavo won against Petro Gjikuri, the DP candidate.

The opposition demanded that the elections be declared invalid.

"1- Objection to Decision No. 85, dated 05.08.2024 - KZAZ No. 88 - "For the approval of the Summary Table of Results for the election of the Mayor of HIMARA", in the partial elections of 04.08.2024;

2-Invalidity of the elections held in all Voting Centers (36 VCs in total) of the Himarë Municipality electoral area;

3-Regulating the consequences by declaring the elections held in the Himarë Municipality election zone invalid", the opposition's complaint states.

"The Together We Win coalition has become aware of the facts, indications and has provided sufficient evidence regarding problems and serious irregularities in the electoral process that occurred in all Voting Centers (36-VC) of the Himar Municipality.

The partial elections for the Mayor of Himarë on August 4, 2024 were held in a charged political climate, while the opposition continues to accuse the ruling majority and its exponents of obstructing voters (the case of expired identity cards), use of the election administration, the landing of half of the ministers in the last days of the campaign and the elections in Himare, without leaving aside the intimidation of voters, businesses, hotel owners, who were at the peak of the tourist season during the campaign and the day of the elections.

But, above all, the major problem in the August 4 elections in Himara was the impossibility of voting for voters who had expired identification documents, and this number of voters who were prevented from voting, unlike 1 year ago, was over 6,000 voters in The municipality of Himare, where in total it turned out that on August 4, about 8,500 voters voted.

On the day of the elections, a problem known even before by the CEC itself was made public, which was related to a very high number of voters who did not have a valid identification document on the day of the elections, as the deadline for their use had passed. ", it is further stated in the complaint of the opposition./ CNA
