Evacuations and flooding/ Rainfall causes problems in the Korça region

The Korça Prefecture has provided updates regarding the situation in areas affected by bad weather and continuous rainfall. According to information, there was water in the basement and archive of the Korça Prosecutor's Office.

The relevant teams continued to work overnight to absorb the water and the situation has stabilized. In the municipality of Maliq, several residents have been evacuated, while there are reports of drowned livestock. It is also reported that there is water in some residential yards.

In the municipality of Pustec, there is a risk of a stream overflowing on the national road Dogana-Gorica e Vogël, while on the Zvezda-Gorica axis there is the presence of inert materials brought by rainfall. In the municipality of Devoll, numerous problems are also reported, such as stream overflowing and landslides.

The Korça District Prefecture informs that during the night and early morning hours, several problems caused by continuous rainfall in the territory were identified. The responsible structures are working on the ground to manage the situation and minimize the damage.

Korca Municipality:

In the premises of the Korça Prosecutor's Office, there was water in the basement and in the archive. The relevant teams continued to work overnight to absorb the water, in order to preserve the documentation, and the situation has been stabilized.

Municipality of Maliq:

An electrical outage has been reported in Block 3 Maliq and a power outage is suspected in part of the city. OSHEE has verified the situation and due to the presence of water has disconnected the feeder. Work is underway to remove the water and restore power.

In Sovjan, the MZSH has initially evacuated residents, livestock and beehives. The situation is returning to normal. In Leshnja, drowned livestock are reported. Local structures are on the ground. In the neighborhood opposite the village of Vlocisht, there is water in the yards of houses. The MZSH is intervening to normalize the situation.

The Dunavec River has burst its banks in two places, causing flooding in several agricultural areas. Emergency services are currently arriving from Pogradec.

Municipality of Pustec:

A risk of a stream overflowing on the national road Dogana-Gorica e Vogël is reported. Monitoring is ongoing by the responsible structures. The Zvezda-Gorica axis has the presence of inert materials brought by rainfall. The contractor is on site and is cleaning the road.

Devoll Municipality:

In the village of Proger, the situation continues to deteriorate, due to heavy rainfall last night. Problems have also been identified in the village of Mancurisht.

In the village of Dobranj, there is an urgent need for intervention at the outlet of the stream, as the water has flooded agricultural lands. The Miras - Arrëz road has suffered landslides of soil and rocks. Workers are being sent to verify the situation on the ground.

In Poloska we have been informed that a house has been flooded. A pump was installed overnight to remove the water. A landslide is reported in the town.

Local structures and emergency teams continue monitoring and interventions in all problematic areas. The Prefecture continues monitoring and coordinating with all structures responsible for guaranteeing the safety of citizens. / CNA
