The operation to close the embankment in the Vaini lagoon continues

The operation to close the embankment, which suffered a landslide on Wednesday evening, continues in the Vaini lagoon. The flooded area has increased, with several homes isolated and roads becoming impassable in the Mylte and Barbullonja areas. The civil emergency structures of the Lezha Municipality, technical teams and army forces are on the ground with heavy vehicles and trucks loaded with stones and inert materials, with the aim of stopping the water from entering residential areas.

The intervention is taking place amidst great difficulties as the road leading to the embankment passes within the protected territory of the marsh. This makes the movement of vehicles slow and dangerous, making the pace of the works difficult.

Despite the difficult conditions, the terrain has not been left unattended for a moment. In addition to the municipality teams, several private companies have also offered assistance by making their fleet of vehicles available to accelerate the closure of the crack, in order to avoid further flooding in the villages of the administrative units of Shenkoll and Zejmen./ CNA
