The Institute of Geosciences has shared an announcement regarding the expected weather conditions and rainfall in the country. The announcement below states that today and tomorrow there will be high intensity rainfall throughout the country.

It further states that in the regions of Fier, Korça, Vlora and Gjirokastra there may be flash floods of small mountain rivers and landslides.

It is also noted that as a result of the heavy rainfall, which is expected to continue until Sunday, there will be an increase in flows and levels in the large and medium-sized rivers Mat, Shkumbin, Seman and Vjosa.

The Institute announces that the Vjosa River will continue to have an increased risk of flooding with high flows and levels throughout today and tomorrow. The announcement also includes a weather forecast.

FLOOD RISK FORECASTING

This afternoon (Thursday, 20th) and tomorrow (Friday, 21st) there will be high intensity rainfall throughout the country. In the regions of Fier, Korçë, Vlorë and Gjirokastër there may be flash floods of small mountain rivers and landslides. In urban areas, problems with localized flooding may occur in these regions.

According to IGJEO's hydrological calculations, as a result of the high-intensity rainfall over the past two days, which will continue until Sunday, November 23, there will be an increase in flows and levels in the large and medium-sized rivers Mat, Shkumbin, Seman and Vjosa.

The Vjosa River will continue to have an increased risk of flooding with high flows and levels throughout today and tomorrow.

This afternoon (Thursday, 20th) and tomorrow (Friday, 21st) intense to locally very intense rainfall is expected in the Vlora and Gjirokastër regions, while moderate to locally intense rainfall is expected in the Shkodër, Fier and Korçë regions.
