Escobar in Tirana/ Focus on the local 2023 and the situation in the region

With his visit to Tirana, the American Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, underlines the importance of local elections in Albania. Today Esobar meets with representatives from the opposition.

Gabriel Escobar, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs and Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, (BP) continues on Wednesday (12.04) his official visit to Tirana with meetings with representatives of the opposition.

Escobar, who arrived in Tirana on Tuesday afternoon (11.04), had meetings with Prime Minister Rama and the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj. The meeting with Prime Minister Rama was closed to the media and the press office of the Prime Minister did not distribute an official announcement regarding the topics of the talks. The American Embassy in Tirana announced, through an announcement on social media, the purpose of Gabriel Escobar's visit to Tirana and the main topics of talks with the country's high authorities. The announcement states that "Deputy Assistant Secretary, Escobar will highlight the importance of the upcoming local elections in Albania, the need to implement ODIHR's recommendations and for political parties, leaders to ensure that candidates meet the requirements of the law and the expectations of Albanian citizens for high integrity.

Escobar-Begaj: Në qendër zhvillimet në rajon

Mbështetja e SHBA ndaj procesit të negociatave mes Kosovës dhe Serbisë, të ndërmjetësuara nga Bashkimi Europian (BE) dhe zhvillimet në rajonin e BP ishin në qëndër të bisedimeve Escobar-Begaj, theksohet në njoftimin e zyrës së shtypit të Presidencës. "Normalizimi i marrëdhënieve mes Kosovës dhe Serbisë, me në qendër njohjen e tyre reciproke, është një proces me ndikim të madh rajonal, si në kuadër të aspekteve të sigurisë ashtu edhe të zhvillimit të qëndrueshëm të rajonit,” citohet të ketë thënë Presidenti Begaj në takimin me Zëvendës Ndihmës Sekretarin amerikan të shtetit për Çështjet Europiane dhe të Dërguarin e Posaçëm për Ballkanin Perëndimor, Gabriel Escobar.

Presidenti Begaj i ka cilësuar "të shkëlqyera” marrëdhëniet mes dy vendeve dhe ka vlerësuar lart partneritetin strategjik Shqipëri-SHBA. Ai e ka vlerësuar "të pazëvendësueshëm rolin e SHBA në garantimin e paqes dhe sigurisë në BP.” Po ashtu u theksua, se siguria kibernetike dhe kërcënimet ishin një temë tjetër e bisedimeve mes tyre. "Mbështetja dhe asistenca e agjencive të specializuara amerikane kanë një rëndësi jetike dhe vendimtare për rritjen e kapaciteteve dhe aftësive kibernetike të Shqipërisë”, citohet të ketë thënë Presidenti Begaj në takimin me Gabriel Escobar.
