Solar energy, three new applications in the Ministry of Energy, installed

Three new applications for the construction of photovoltaic plants have been submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy with a total installed capacity of 135 MW.

These are projects that are not subject to concession and therefore do not benefit from support measures, which means that their energy will be sold on the free market as independent producers.

But what are these projects and their specifics on a case-by-case basis according to the application?

The first is a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 25 MW, as an interest expressed by the company "I&N ENERGY" sh.pk located in Cadastral Zone 1451, Darëzezë Village, Dërmena Administrative Unit, Fier Municipality.

The second project is that of a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 50 MW as an application of the company "PARK SOL ENERGY" sh.pk located in Cadastral Zone 8642, Saranda Administrative Unit, Saranda Municipality, Vlora District.

The third project is for a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 60 MW as an application of the company "HD SOLAR" sh.pk located in the Administrative Unit of Libohova Center, Libohova Municipality, Gjirokastër District.

According to the standard procedure, applications are posted to receive comments from interested parties for a period of 15 days before moving on to the next procedural steps.

Interest in large-scale photovoltaic projects remains high as businesses from various sectors increasingly diversify into energy. Despite the interest that peaked during the 2021-2022 energy crisis, only a small portion of these projects have been finalized and entered production, while the rest remain in the documentation or implementation stages.

The largest plant in production is that of Karavasta with a capacity of 140 MW, while there are a series of other plants that have entered production such as SPV Blue or Nova Solar System.

Energy Balance data published by INSTAT showed that by the first 6 months of this year, the "other producers" group, which includes photovoltaics, produced 288 GWh of electricity, compared to 125 GWh in the same period last year. Net domestic production was 1757 GWh by the end of June./Monitor.al
