After re-evaluation/ KPA dismisses Durres prosecutor from duty

The Special Appeals Chamber has today decided to dismiss the prosecutor at the Durrës Prosecution Office, Gëzim Çopa.

Çopa was subject to reassessment, following a decision by the KPK in 2024.

The panel of judges of the Special Appeals Chamber that issued the decision was chaired by Natasha Mulaj with rapporteur Rezarta Schuetz and three members Ina Rama, Mimoza Tasi and Sokol Çomo.

"The adjudicatory panel of the Special Appeals Chamber, composed of Natasha Mulaj as chair, Rezarta Schuetz as rapporteur, Ina Rama, Mimoza Tasi, Sokol Çomo as members, announced the decision on case no. 18/2024, dated 24.05.2024, which concerns the appeal of the Public Commissioner against the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission no. 738, dated 22.02.2024, relating to the subject of the reassessment Gëzim Çopa.

At the end of the trial, the panel, based on Article 66, point 1, letter “b” of Law No. 84/2016, “On the temporary re-evaluation of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania”, unanimously decided:

Amendment of decision no. 738, dated 22.02.2024 of the Independent Qualification Commission and the dismissal from duty of the re-evaluation subject Gëzim Çopa.

This decision is final and has immediate effect.
