Ambassador of the OSCE Presence in Tirana: Albania has made achievements in data

Michel Tarran, Ambassador of the OSCE Presence in Albania, delivered his speech at the 7th National Conference on the Right to Information.

Tarran highlighted Albania's main achievements in data protection. He mentioned the adoption of the new data protection law, which he said is harmonized with EU regulations and directives.

“I would like to highlight the main achievements in data protection, the adoption of the new data protection law, which marks a step forward. This legislation is harmonized with the EU data protection regulation and its implementing directives. I note a fruitful cooperation between the OSCE presence in Tirana and the Commissioner for the Right to Information. Our initiatives are focused on raising awareness and practical approaches to data protection. This activity shows us how technologies affect privacy, accountability and the practice of institutions. This summer we undertook two initiatives, one with the ILD and the other with the Prosecutor General and media actors. These two activities improved communication with the media and the public. Next year we aim to develop the HCJ protocol and draft a communication strategy for the Prosecutor General's Office ”, said Tarran. /CNA
