The General Director of the Republican Guard is appointed

Simon Zereci has been appointed Director General of the Republic Guard. Zereci was appointed to this position after being appointed to the position of Chief of the Republic Guard, following the departure of Ermal Onuz.

"In accordance with Article 17 of Law 33/2021 "On the Guard of the Republic of Albania", as amended, Mr. Simon Zereci has been appointed Director General of the Guard of the Republic and holds the rank of Major Leader,"  the announcement states.

Simon Zereci has held the position of Commander of the Special Unit in the Republic Guard since 2013. He has served in several leadership and operational positions in the Guard.

Zereci began his military career in 1986 at the Ministry of Defense and then joined the Republican Guard, where he rose from basic level duties to high command positions.

During his career, Zereci has also held the rank of "Senior Manager" and has been trained in several programs at home and abroad, focused on the security of personalities and the protection of state institutions. /CNA
