"Two citizens were stopped in Lezha because Rama was passing by"/

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi stated in a post on social media that two citizens were detained yesterday in Lezha due to Prime Minister Edi Rama's visit.

Këlliçi states that the two citizens were detained because they are known for their critical stances, while adding that they were released after Rama finished his activity.

The MP calls for an investigation into their detention, just to prevent any possible protests during the Prime Minister's visit.

Full post:

Citizens lost their freedom because Edi Rama was passing by, an immediate investigation is needed!

Two citizens in Lezha lost their freedom for over 4 hours yesterday, because Edi Rama was visiting there. The citizens were not doing anything, they were doing their job. They were detained because they are known for their critical stances. They were released after the prime minister finished his activity.

It is not a synopsis for literature, nor is it excerpts from Mario Vargas Llosa's novels describing Caribbean dictatorships.

It is an event that occurred in broad daylight, in a country that is opening and closing chapters with Brussels. It was even confirmed by the Lezha Police Department, which admits that it carried out this action to prevent any possible protests.

One of the detainees is having problems because his property in Rrjoll is being taken away. The other is unhappy with the government. Both may be supporters of the Opposition, or perhaps they simply don't like the government.

This is a dramatic development. These are prisoners of conscience of the new regime in the country.

They would have no concerns whether they were Renaissance militants, patrons, or clerks. Even members of gangs active in this area had no trouble yesterday with Edi Rama's visit.

Only potential protesters, those demanding their rights, who disagree with a corrupt government and prime minister, ended up in jail.

Edi Rama knows well that on every street, in every square, in every place where he can have contact with citizens, he will reap what he has sown. Discontent to the point of revolt among the people. And the only means he has left to protect himself is force and the police.

And this one claims to be advancing on the path of European integration.

I call on the prosecution to immediately launch investigations into this arbitrariness and illegal deprivation of liberty against two citizens. The orderer and implementer of this measure actually belongs in prison.

Neither police stations, nor special forces, nor military equipment will help Edi Rama stay in office.

Let's join on April 17th in front of the most motivated, most determined crime and corruption office to save Albania. /CNA
