File 5D/ Lawyers for Veliaj directors clash in court session

The court hearing for Veliaj's directors has been accompanied by clashes. The debates began after a request for a summary trial by Redi Molla's lawyer.

Redi Molla's lawyer, Denion Bogdani, has requested that the judicial review of the case not begin unless a decision is first made on this request.

The lawyers of the other defendants, Ermir Beta and Ardian Leka, also requested a postponement of the hearing for the same reason.

Meanwhile, Taulant Tushe's lawyer, Evi Sheri, has requested that the hearing not be postponed.

This has led to their clash and tensions in the session.

On the other hand, the prosecutor in the case, Klodian Braho, has stated that the request is not a reason not to continue the session.

On July 2, 2024, SPAK announced the charges of "passive corruption" and "failure to declare assets" against Redian Molla and Mariglen Qato, while Taulant Tushe announced the charge of "violation of equality in tenders". The three former directors were arrested in March last year by order of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, as part of the investigations into the "5D" file.

They were remanded in custody, while five other people were remanded in custody, specifically Enton Punavija, Julian Zanaj, Albano Janku, Nestor Muhamellari, Deborah Keçi and Englatina Zere. / CNA
