In Shkodra, the commemoration of the Days of Remembrance, which symbolize the resistance to communist persecution for about 45 years, has begun. The political leader of the Democratic Party in this region, Luçiano Boçi, said that nowadays Albania is led by the same people who were there yesterday.

"Those who are today are the same as those who were yesterday and were born from the same womb. Only the position of the star has changed. Once they had it on their foreheads, today they wear it on their chests. Once they promised the golden spoon, while today they promise the EU passport. They are the same ones who are carrying out this war with values, with the principles of freedom and democracy, and therefore we must hold high the history and memory of these men and women who inspire generations, inspire ourselves, our society so that we can realize their mission that they did not carry to the end," said Boçi.

Members of the association of former political persecutors who organize the Days of Remembrance expressed that Albanian politics in 35 years has forgotten this group.

"These 35 years, Albanian politics has not fulfilled its duty towards this layer. There have been many promises, but today we are in a desperate situation because less than half of those who have the right to compensation for their suffering have not been rewarded. The idea is created that someone is waiting for generations to pass because one generation passed in 25 years, we are in the 35th year and they want generations to pass and people to die. We call on Albanian politics to take care of this layer. Do not forget that the progress of Albanians is achieved only if we are together, otherwise there is no secure and stable future. Let us not forget that 35 years have passed and the figure of the criminal Enver Hoxha, the Lugat, still appears everywhere in Albania, a greater danger than our national hero Skanderbeg. Let us not forget that 35 years have passed and historical memory is not introduced into schools. Those people who lead you think are stupid, no, they are very smart. Why don't they put it in schools in the communist past? Don't forget that propaganda films are still being made where the clergyman appears immoral, traitorous, evil or the intellectual who completed school abroad appears vile or that the bourgeoisie is not worth anything because he is a traitor and in this spirit these films educate and no one raises their voice. We are not against the RTSH films, but we are against the poisonous communist propaganda with which the new generation is attempted to be educated. We have many tasks to do and we cannot do them alone, we who are here, without the help of others", said the former political persecuted, Filip Guraziu.

The two former persecuted people, Guraziu and Beqi, shared their calling.

"Albanian politicians are forced to act like German politicians, who accepted Nazism and punished the last Nazi. I am one of those who could be in the grave today and thank God I am alive. This monument in Shkodra will be eternal and we will make another one in the name of those shot in Shkodra. We will insist until it is approved and it will be done because it is not done. We will also ask international institutions because I want the EU passport, but if history is not rewritten, the decommunization of Albania will be done because we have forgiven them because 35 years have passed and we have not killed a single one of them. We do not kill because we are not like them, but we are not so tired as to forgive them at all and not make history for our children and our descendants," said the former political persecuted, Gjekë Beqi.

The Days of Remembrance began near the memorial established 6 years ago in the center of Shkodra, which commemorates the communist regime's torture of the politically persecuted. In Shkodra, during the years of the monist regime, around 600 people were shot, 3,000 others were imprisoned, and over 1,900 families suffered the most horrific torture. /CNA
