Denaj, support scheme for companies that import meat from Brazil/ Leaves farmers
Minister of Agriculture Anila Denaj

The Minister of Agriculture, Anila Denaj, has stated in the Law Commission that taxes can be reduced for companies that import meat from Brazil.

According to Denaj, the livestock financing scheme will not change as it imposes the union of operators and the increase of livestock in the country.

The minister said that there is an opportunity to reduce taxes for about 15 Albanian companies that import meat from Brazil.

"There are 15 Albanian companies that trade imported meat from entities licensed by the EU in Brazil. This is a guarantee of quality products. They have asked for a tax reduction to become more competitive and we are discussing it. There are controls and certificates according to standards. At the border points, we have a project with the World Bank where 7 laboratory points will be opened to check imported products", said Denaj.

So, Minister Anila Denaj's schemes support companies that import meat from Brazil but do not support farmers in the country for raising livestock, by financing the farms.

Farmers in Albania have been protesting for a long time since the Ministry of Agriculture does not provide support policies for them, causing most of the fruits or vegetables in this case to go to waste.

As a sign of protest, they have often thrown the products on the streets or in the villages through canals.

So, the minister should consider a financial scheme that benefits all farmers, not just the companies that import meat from Brazil./ CNA
