On the first day of the new school year, the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, conveyed a congratulatory message to all students, teachers and parents.

The minister emphasized the importance of quality education and the government's efforts to improve conditions in schools, focusing on the investments made to increase teaching standards.

"25 new schools have opened their doors today, welcoming about 10 thousand students and teachers", she wrote on social networks.

Manastirliu has emphasized the salary increase for over 30 thousand teachers and efforts for their professional development through free trainings, with the aim of including 16 thousand teachers in the National Professional Development Program.

Dear students, parents and teachers!

Today we start this journey of the new school year together, I'm just as excited as you, because every year brings new challenges and opportunities for everyone.

Today, 350,000 students sit on school benches, while about 28,000 of them cross the threshold of the school for the first time.

Dear first graders, school is the place where you will learn, discover the world, and most importantly, build your future.

We have worked hard so that this year you have the opportunity to learn in even more modern schools, that the teachers are even more motivated, that the schools are better equipped with the necessary didactic materials, which will help you develop your intellect and your personality from the start of schooling and throughout your education.

We provided free textbooks to 238,000 9-year school students and 16 special categories of high school students.

Investments in school infrastructure have enabled 25 reconstructed schools to open their doors today, which welcome about 10 thousand students and teachers. This year alone, we have invested and are investing in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 100 educational facilities throughout the country.

In an age where technology is rapidly changing the way we learn and work, we have entered a very important phase to improve digital skills, creative skills and foster critical thinking.

This year, 200 9-year schools have been equipped with 216 SMART labs, giving students the opportunity to learn through the new ICT curriculum and the Code Monkey program, where around 35,000 students are already involved in these classes.

Your journey to knowledge is not only yours, but also that of your parents and teachers who will be there to support you every step of the way.

This new school year finds teachers with increased salaries, enabling over 30 thousand teachers in our education system to have dignified salaries.

Evaluation and support for teachers are essential for a system that focuses on quality, so, in addition to financial support, we will continue to develop free training programs to increase their professional competences, with the aim that over 16 thousand teachers will be trained through the National Program of Professional Development.

This year we will have new developments within the school, through new roles for teachers:

640 teachers will also be engaged as quality assurance coordinators for teaching and career guidance, based on the identification of tendencies and talents in each school, helping you and your parents in the choices you will make for your future.

A priority of ours is inclusive and equal education for all children.

This year we increased the number of assistant teachers by 200, bringing the total number of assistant teachers to 2100, who guarantee teaching support for students with special abilities.

Creating opportunities for a healthy and active lifestyle for students is equally important to us. For this reason, in the new school year we are investing in sports grounds and modern gymnasiums in schools, as part of the "Sports Movement in Schools"; our national program has already included over 10,000 students, with the aim of further expanding this program by adding new sports disciplines and extending it to all educational cycles.

Launched programs, such as "Art and Crafts", "Community Center School", Olympics, Competitions and a number of new programs will accompany this school year, enabling you to have the richest school and extracurricular program.
