The ambassador of Serbia in Spain, Irena Sarac, was attacked on Sunday evening in Madrid, by an unidentified person, who is claimed by Serbian media to be Albanian.

The aggressor attacked the ambassador of Serbia around 10:00 p.m., on "Principe de Vergara" street, near the embassy.

According to the first investigations, the man kicked her and insulted her after asking her about her origin, but the Serbian ambassador also responded.

There was a witness to the attack who notified the police. The agents conducted several checks in the area, but were unable to find the suspected aggressor.

Despite the help offered by the police officers, Sarac refused to receive medical attention and to be sent to the police station to report the incident.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Djuric, has requested that the Spanish authorities investigate and bring to justice the author of the attack, Serbian television N1 announced this Monday.

Serbian media claim that some witnesses said that, judging by the aggressor's accent, he was of Albanian ethnicity. However, this is not confirmed./ CNA
